They play a vital role in patient care by ensuring high-quality samples are obtained, which helps providers diagnose conditions, monitor treatments, and make informed healthcare decisions.Department: Phlebotomy Schedule: Full-time 36 hours per week on the day shift (5:00 am - 1:30 pm) with every other weekend rotation and an on-call requirement of approximately every 8th weekendUnder specific direction, collects and prepares blood specimens and other samples for laboratory testing. Maintains collection areas and equipment and performs record keeping duties.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:Collects blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary technique and processes the samples according to laboratory guidelines.Delivers samples to the laboratory in established time frames.May perform waived testing.May perform a variety of administrative duties to support the department.Identifies patients using two identifiers.Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.Performs other duties as assigned.Education:High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experienceExperience:No experience requiredPhysical Requirements:Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
