QUALIFICATIONSTo be considered for this position, candidates must successfully complete the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) Police Certification Program. Applicants must either be certified or eligible for certification as a police officer. Additionally, candidates are required to possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver's License and be a U.S. Citizen.Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to interact with the public courteously, professionally, and tactfully. They must have the ability to quickly and objectively analyze situations, determining the appropriate course of action. The role also requires the ability to accurately gather information and clearly communicate observations, behaviors, and actions both orally and in writing. Furthermore, candidates must be able to develop proficiency in the use and care of firearms.
